Quotes That Make Me Happy, Part 1

I'm going to start posting quotes that I hear/ find/ read that I love from now on:) Without further adieu, here are some I've found in the last couple days that I love:

"I urge you to examine your life. Determine where you are and what you need to do to be the kind of person you want to be. Create inspiring, noble, and righteous goals that fire your imagination and create excitement in your heart. And then keep your eye on them. Work consistently towards achieving them."
-Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

Our kitty Colby (who now lives at his grandparents' house) had a righteous goal to be attentive while watching General Conference! ;)

"A mother's nurturing love arouses in children, from their earliest days on earth, an awakening of the memories of love and goodness they experienced in their premortal existence."
-Elder M. Russell Ballard

Terms of Forever

Today Julian received his baby blessing from Stace. The others who participated included Stace's dad, two of his uncles, my two brothers, and Bishop Bret Bowcutt. All seven of these men are worthy, strong Melchizedek Priesthood holders. What a sight to see them joined, hand to shoulder, in a circle around sweet Julian. Just the memory of it brings tears to my eyes. Seeing all of these men who I love dearly giving my sweet child a Priesthood blessing was too much for my heart to hold. It was beautiful.

I will post more about this day later, but for now...I just want to document these feelings I have.

I want to thank you, Julian. I want to thank your sweet daddy. I want to thank our Savior. I want to thank our Father in Heaven. My heart is full. My convictions today of the reality and divinity of our Savior are so strong; they have been renewed again in a powerful way. You have strengthened me. I cannot put into words the gratitude I have for my Father in Heaven and the blessing of YOU that He has given me.
You have renewed my spirit. You have rejuvenated and invigorated this precious testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and of eternity that I hold in my heart...
You are already a tool in your Father's hands.

Today I was reminded of who I really am, and who we really are as a family unit...in terms of forever. I love you. I love Him. Thank you.

Ode to Kathleen

Many of you, my bloggy friends, may not know my dear, beloved friend, Kathleen. She is also known as Kathy-- ha! JUST KIDDING! She'll hate you if you call her that...unless your name is Mrs. Allman...

Kathleen has been my best friend since high school, which is where we met. I have been wanting to write a post dedicated to her for a long time, and now that I finally have some pictures of us together (for whatever reason, we never take pictures together), I can add some spice to her post, so I figure now is a good a time as ever.
Kathleen, I know you don't read my blog very often. I am going to hope that you come across this post on a day or night that you perhaps need a little pick-me-up, and are reminded of how much you are loved. Or that you will come across it on a great day for you, and that this post just makes it a little better. :)

I want you to know how proud I am to be your best friend. I could not ask for a more loyal and loving friend. I feel so blessed to have you in my life. I AM so blessed to have you in my life. I can be myself with you...completely. I can say phrases like "yippee skippee!" and "okey dokey!" and not think twice about whether or not you will think I am a giant dork, because we both already know and accept the fact that I just...am. I can tell you anything, and I know you won't judge me.

I can be silly with you; I can be serious with you. I don't really know what I would do without you. It hurts to even think about it. We have laughed SO much together, and we have also cried together. I trust you with anything. You trust me with anything.

Kathleen is a very humble person. She has no idea how amazing she is. She is incredibly beautiful, as you can see, but I don't know if she has ever once believed me when I have told her that. In fact, I'm positive she hasn't. I will keep telling her anyway.
I LOVE her freckles! Don't you?

One thing I love about Kathleen is that people are drawn to her because of how real she is. People enjoy her company and want to be her friend because she is always herself. She is so easy for anyone to talk to. Kathleen is a very sincere person...there is no "frontin'" with her.

Kathleen has a heart as pure as platinum. She would never do anything to intentionally hurt anyone. She is not a fan of drama. She never lets too much time go by without reminding me that she loves me and is thinking of me. Kathleen loves to laugh. Kathleen loves love, and believes in it. She loves her mama, and she loves her brother. She loves her daddy too, who lost his battle with cancer when she was in fourth grade. I love all three of them too, for helping to create, raise, and shape such a wonderful person to be my friend. Thank you, Mr. Tansey, Denise, Dan.

One day a boy will come along and sweep her off her feet, and he better believe he will have some seriously protective people to answer to (to name a few: her family, Stace, me). I am fiercely protective of those whom I love and am closest with. Kathleen is one of those people. If someone hurts her, he or she hurts me.

Kathleen, thank you for always being there for me. For not believing it for a second when I called you after leaving the doctor's office last March. For your faith. For your unconditional love. For your support. For your belief in me. I want you to know I believe in you, too. You have such a beautiful future ahead, and I am so excited to stand by you as we watch it unfold.

You, my best friend, are my sunshine.
I love you:)
Thank you for being you.

YAY!!!

This morning as we were headed out the door to church, I turned around and looked away for what seems like just a second, and when I turned back around, I saw this:

What a sweet little memory I have captured in my mind and within this photo! Julian was there smiling at me with roses next to him and the sweetest card, and...wait...what is that on the right side of his car seat?
MICHAEL BUBLE TICKETS?! AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
seriously bloggy friends...I'm obsessed with Michael Buble's music! I had specific requests that Michael Buble be playing in the delivery room while in labor...his voice is so peaceful, yet some songs are so upbeat and fun and...some are so moving that I get all teary-eyed...(I guarantee you I will cry at the concert...)

Happy Valentine's Day sweet boy!
This scene melts my heart

His Eyes

Today I laid down with Julian to put him down for a nap. I was singing a Primary song to him ("A Child's Prayer"), and he was staring intently into my eyes...I've been noticing that lately. He stares into my eyes and it is like I am looking into the face of pure love. It fills me with an indescribable joy. The look of sheer happiness on his face when we talk to him assures us, if there ever was a doubt, that he really loves us. It is so amazing.

As I stared back at his big blue eyes, I realized that this baby boy, my sweet baby boy, will grow and change (all too quickly, I realize, as he already has), but...I will always be looking into the same pair of eyes.
Little visions popped into my head of gazing into these same eyes as I hug him at the entryway of his classroom on his first day of kindergarten, as I send him on a mission, as I dance with him at his wedding, and of course, tears began to flow. My sweet boy. I love you, and your eyes...which will always be the same.

Success.

"To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded. "
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Someone I really admire gave me a card with this poem on it a few months ago. It meant a lot to me that she gave it to me. This is an amazing poem, Mr. Emerson. Thank you for articulating so well what we should be ultimately striving for each day as we each strive to "succeed". And remember: "Success is not not a destination; it is a journey!"-Zig Ziglar

A Recipe from My Home to Yours:)

Well, not really from my home...more like from a magazine...it's not like it's an original Kim recipe (to date, there are none of those in existence, btw). I'm not exactly known for my culinary craft, but, one day...perhaps I will be. I do aspire to cook like my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law Candace, and/or my grandmother-in-law (oh man...they could all three put Paula Deen and Rachael Ray to shame)...but for now, I am simply the lame-o grilled chicken, apple sauce, and (frozen) veggies cook that I am.

I'm so bad that my poor husband has to find easy recipes for me if he wants something different! ha...poor guy:( Here is one that he found that I tried tonight and it was easy-peasy and quite delish! You can find this healthy chicken fingers recipe here. Yum!!!

And btw (again), I will one day be a great chef. It is on my goal list. And I think this is one of the goals I shall be tackling sooner rather than later.

And PS: I CAN bake! But...that doesn't help Stace or I now that we are trying to shed the excess poundage...sigh......can't catch a break...
